Melbourne Abroad Scholarships
A Melbourne Abroad Scholarship for Study Abroad students provides a one-off payment to assist students in meeting basic travel costs. It is awarded on the basis of academic merit and faculty quotas may apply. The amounts, up to $2,000, vary according to length of stay overseas.
Undergraduate students, including honours students, must have:
- completed, or be about to complete, at least 75 points and at least one year of study at the University of Melbourne at the time of application;
- their study program approved for credit or to meet a hurdle requirement, towards their University of Melbourne degree, by their faculty(s); and
- an overall weighted average of at least 70%.
Postgraduate coursework students are eligible to receive the Melbourne Abroad Scholarship and will be considered under the same eligibility criteria as undergraduate students, with the following exception:
- postgraduate coursework students must have completed at least 50 points and a semester of study at the University of Melbourne in the degree or diploma for which they are seeking credit on exchange at the timeof application.
Postgraduate research students are not eligible to receive the Melbourne Abroad Scholarship and should instead investigate travel funding options through the Postgraduate Scholarships Office.
Students who have received a Melbourne Abroad Scholarship (including a Melbourne Abroad Scholarship in Language Study, see below) in the past are not eligible to receive another Melbourne Abroad Scholarship or Melbourne Abroad Financial Assistance.
If you were awarded a Melbourne Abroad Scholarship in a previous round and deferred your study abroad, you must apply again for a scholarship in the new round in which you will travel.
