The University of Melbourne has formal exchange agreements with the following institutions. These agreements apply to both students at the University of Melbourne wanting to study overseas and to students of partner institutions wanting to study at the University of Melbourne.

EMPHASIS: The exchange agreement anticipates, but is not limited to, students in these listed departments/faculties.
EXCLUDES: Students in that discipline may not attend this institution on exchange.
General: exchange agreements which are open to all disciplines, unless otherwise indicated. In any agreement, access to some host institution subjects may be limited or unavailable to exchange students. We have endeavoured to highlight restrictions or exclusions on this list, but others may apply.
LFR: Faculty of Land & Food Resources
LIMITED PLACES : Only a small number of students in that discipline may attend this institution on exchange in a round.
RESTRICTS: Students in that discipline may attend this institution on exchange but may not be able to do a full load of subjects in that discipline.

Notes

  1. Applications for McGill University in Architecture, Engineering, Law, Music and Graduate level studies must be submitted by the December deadline, regardless of intended start date.
  2. For exchanges beginning in semester 2, 2009 and there after, ALL applications for exchange to the University of British Columbia (UBC) must be submitted by the December deadline. No applications will be accepted for exchange to UBC in the July rounds after July 2008.
  3. Applications to the University of British Columbia (UBC)for the Faculty of Applied Science (Engineering) must be submitted by the December deadline, regardless of intended start date. Music applicants who wish to take performance subjects must apply by the December deadline for year-long exchanges beginning in September. Architecture applicants must have completed 3 years of study before beginning their exchange. Exchange students seeking credit for Engineering (Applied Science) or Commerce must take a MAJORITY of their subject load in these faculties at UBC.
  4. Students can only study Law at Toronto if they have completed two years of Law at Melbourne prior to starting at Toronto.
  5. Students wishing to study at PUC must have evidence of Spanish language proficiency of at least 4 semesters of Spanish language study at tertiary level.

  7. Students wishing to study subjects other than Chinese language at Fudan University will only be able to do so in Mandarin. They will need to sit a language test when they arrive or have a current HSK test result of Level 6 or higher. For information about the HSK Test click here.
  8. Students wishing to study subjects other than Chinese language at Nanjing University will only be able to do so in Mandarin. They will need to sit a language test when they arrive or have a current HSK test result of Level 3 or higher for Science subjects and Level 6 or higher for Arts and Commerce subjects. For information about the HSK Test click here.
  9. Peking University will not accept applications for exchange from Chinese citizens. Students wishing to study subjects other than Chinese language at Peking University will only be able to do so in Mandarin. They will need to sit a language test when they arrive or have a current HSK test result of Level 7 or higher. For information about the HSK Test click here.
  10. Tsinghua University will not accept applications for exchange from Chinese citizens. Students wishing to study subjects other than Chinese language at Tsinghua University will only be able to do so in Mandarin. They will need to sit a language test when they arrive or have a current HSK test result of Level 6 or higher. For information about the HSK Test click here.
  11. Note that students wishing to study Law at the University of Hong Kong must apply in the December round of applications for exchange in the second semester of the following year or for first semester of the year after. For example, a student must apply by 8 December 2008 to study Law on exchange at the University of Hong Kong in semester 2, 2009 or semester 1, 2010.
