The University of Melbourne has formal exchange agreements with the following institutions. These agreements apply to both students at the University of Melbourne wanting to study overseas and to students of partner institutions wanting to study at the University of Melbourne.

EMPHASIS: The exchange agreement anticipates, but is not limited to, students in these listed departments/faculties.

General: exchange agreements which are open to all disciplines, unless otherwise indicated. In any agreement, access to some host institution subjects may be limited or unavailable to exchange students. We have endeavoured to highlight restrictions or exclusions on this list, but others may apply.

Notes

  1. Students who wish to study at Trinity for a year-long exchange must submit their application by the December deadline, to commence in Trinity's first semester.
  2. While attending University College, Dublin exchange students will not be able to take studies in two faculties. Applications for the Faculty of Engineering should be submitted by the December deadline and must be for a year-long exchange only.
  3. Students are expected to be at least an intermediate level of Italian to attend the University of Bologna as no classes are taught in English.
  4. Applications for an exchange to University of Trieste must be submitted by the December deadline, for a year-long exchange beginning in the Trieste first semester.
  5. The Ministry of Justice has tightened regulations for students coming to Japan to study due to students coming with insufficient funds.  Students now need to state how they will finance their studies and may require proof. A recommended budget is about Y150,000 per month (about A$1,800) and about Y30-50,000 per semester (about A$370-620) on textbooks.
  6. Exchange students shall have completed at least two years of undergraduate university work by the time they commence their exchange.
  7. Students to Japan Women's University are encouraged to go in January for a 6 week, 3 hour per day, 4 days per week intensive language course from mid-January until early March. The first semester commences in early April and there is no language program prior to the second semester commencing in late September.  Students live in homestay during the language course then in student dormitories for the semester period.
  8. Applications for the KUINEP must be submitted by the December deadline and year-long (2 semester) exchanges are recommended.
  9. Exchange students accepted to Sophia Univeristy are encouraged to visit the International Office at this institution regularly as there are often free offers available, such as passes to the National Museum, which are distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis.
  10. Applications for the YSEP must be submitted by the December deadline and year-long (2 semester) exchanges are recommended. Students must have completed at least 3 years of undergraduate study before commencing a YSEP exchange.
  11. Applications for the AIKOM Program must be submitted by the December deadline to commence in October of the following year for two semesters of exchange.
