The Prime Minister's Australia Asia Endeavour Awards
The Australian government is providing funding for scholarships, to be known as the "Prime Minister’s Australia Asia Endeavour Awards", which will enable postgraduates and undergraduates to undertake not only international study and research, but also internships or work placements. The Awards aim to build deep and enduring education and professional linkages between Australia and Asia. They will be adminstered by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) in Canberra.
Award Details
Undergraduate Awards
- Valued at up to $41,500 each
- 20 Awards annually Australia-wide
- Outgoing Australian undergraduate scholars will be funded for up to one year of study at a university in Asia and for a mandatory work placement or internship of up to one year offshore.
Postgraduate Awards
- Valued at up to $63,500 each
- 20 Awards annually Australia-wide
- Available to research and coursework graduate students
- Outgoing Australian postgraduate scholars will be funded to study for up to one year of their Award (PhD or Masters) in Asia
- Successful candidates will be encouraged to undertake a work placement or internship at the end of their study, for up to 12 months (minimum of two months)
Priority Destinations
The priority home and host destinations for these Awards are: China (including Hong Kong, and Macau SARs), India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Republic of Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligibile for the 2010 Round applicants must:
- be citizens or permanent residents of Australia and reside in Australia and not studying, living or working in the proposed host country;
- not hold dual citizenship or permanent residency status in their proposed host country;
- for the Undergraduate Awards, be enrolled in an undergraduate degree at the time of application and demonstrate high academic achievement;
- for the Postgraduate Awards, have completed an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a postgraduate degree at the time of application, and demonstrate high academic achievement;
- be enrolled in and nominated by their Australian university;
- not have held an Endeavour Research Fellowship or Endeavour Executive Award in 2008 or 2009; and
- if successful, be able to take up their Awards between 15 January and 30 November 2010.
Other Information
ALL students must NOT exceed the word limits stipulated on the application form. Applications with word limits in excess of the word limits may be considered ineligible and therefore not considered by the selection panel.
Successful applicants will not be eligible to receive any additional funding from the University of Melbourne.
Applications can be for students applying to do a semester/year as part of the University's formal exchange program with Melbourne Global Mobility or as an independent study abroad student. In nominating students preference will be given to exchange students.

NOTE ON PRINTING THE APPLICATION:
